The church is located in the western part of the city, on the former handicraft suburb "Nove Misto", on a mound hill over Hnyla Lypa riverbank. In the documents of the Central State Historical Archives of Ukraine in Lviv, the Rohatyn Holy Spirit Church is mentioned in the 12th century, as well as in 1481, 1562 and 1567. However, Lviv researcher Volodymyr Vuitsyk, had stated a year of 1598, as the year of creation of this Church according to the inscription contained in the interior of the Church on the north wall of the nave. Built without nails, wooden pegs were used where needed. The length of the structure is 22 m, width - 7 m; the nave has a height of 22 meters. Altar is separated from the nave by a beautiful five-tier iconostasis, which is one of the largest masterpieces of the Lviv Renaissance painting school. Beautiful carved ornaments are enhanced with silver and gold covering, enriched with polychrome. The iconostasis was created in 1650 thanks to actions and funds of the Rohatyn fraternities. An iconostasis is made up of five horizontal tiers: basic (social), local, holiday or festive, apostolic and prophetic. The oldest icon painting, preserved in the Holy Spirit Church, is the icon of the 16th century, "St. John the Precurser with Life" (1520). The Church still has icons of the original iconostasis created at the turn of the 16th and 17th centuries: "The Descent of the Holy Spirit on the Apostles", "John the Theologian and the Longinus" and "Mother of God and Mary Magdalene". Decorative woodcarving and sculpture form one of the most striking pages of an ancient Carpathian art. An exposition consists of the royal gates, columns, candlesticks - all made of wood. In 1983, the Holy Spirit Church became a museum - a branch of the Ivano-Frankivsk Regional Art Museum.
